HANNAH ANDERSON

Dance Artist | Choreographer | Artistic Director

There are moments when life moves me so deeply that the only adequate response is to move.

“I found out that I was going to be a mom when I was 22 years old. As a concert dancer, it felt like a death sentence to my career and artform. Gradually, my perspective shifted to see motherhood as a rite of passage to deepen, enrich and mature my artistry. Now, over ten years (and three babies) later, this softening has given me permission to see the sacred within the ordinary. I now find inspiration in many places: hikes with my children, history books, poetry, light streaming into my kitchen, meals shared with friends, old family photographs, weeding my flowerbeds and a wide variety of music. I am often looking to challenge an audience’s perspective, speak to a difficult experience they have had or sweep them into an ephemeral moment of beauty and wonder. I deeply enjoy levity and laughter in the studio, which often emerges in my work as playfulness or a genuine connection between the dancers on stage. I believe it is my work as an artist to draw out these sacred moments embedded within ordinary days and mold them into something tangible.”

Let’s work together.

Hannah creates and moves from a place that is both technically refined and emotionally resonant. Her honesty, tenderness, and humor embody the complexity of the human experience. Her work is compelling, disarming, and deeply moving.
